Wear the Story.

A New Zealand luxury brand. Grounded in the land, the craft, and intention — made entirely in Aotearoa.

The Brand

Frances Design

Frances Design began where most good things do — with a conversation. A question asked at the right moment, and a family wise enough to say yes.

We wanted a single-origin property — one place, one flock, one story. Fibre that was exceptional, well prepared, and grown with genuine care. And everything designed and made entirely in New Zealand. Scarves were the natural choice — a canvas for design, worn many ways, treasured and passed on.

That search led to Glentanner Station, at the foot of Aoraki Mount Cook — home to the Ivey family since 1957, where outstanding farming and animal welfare are simply part of everyday life.

Today, every scarf is crafted from single-origin Glentanner Merino wool, ZQ certified — independently audited for animal welfare, land stewardship, and fibre quality — and fully traceable from the station to your hands.

Fewer pieces. Better made. Here for a lifetime.

Where it began

Rachael Geary

I have spent my life close to the land - across New Zealand and Tasmania, and for many years within New Zealand's agricultural sector. The Mackenzie has always been home in the truest sense. It is where I live today with my husband Justin and our children, and where Frances Design began.

Frances grew from a love of wool, a deep respect for where it comes from, and a belief that the things we wear should carry meaning. A conversation with my aunt Jane - a talented designer and passionate advocate for fine New Zealand wool - planted the seed, and her guidance has shaped the journey ever since.

The name Frances quietly runs through my family - my grandmother's middle name, my own, and now my daughter's. It feels right.

I created Frances Design to make pieces worth keeping. Fewer, better, and made to last a lifetime.

Wear the story. Embrace the style.

The Journey of Craft

Every Frances Design scarf begins on the sheep's back — with the care that goes into farming these animals.

We've met the shearers and shed hands, felt the fleece, and shared pieces made from the previous season's clip. A moment the whole process comes full circle.

From Glentanner, the wool is purchased through Zentera, underpinned by ZQ certification — an enduring standard, not a single checkpoint.

Providing independent assurance around animal welfare, environmental sustainability, fibre quality, traceability, and social responsibility.

Our fibre then travels across Aotearoa for processing, before returning to our hands, ready to place in yours.

The Promise

Slow luxury — thoughtful, enduring pieces that carry meaning beyond the moment.

Confident yet understated, Frances Design blends refined minimalism with a subtle edge — balancing timeless craft with modern expression. Every piece tells a story of provenance, integrity, and design-led quality.

Wearable luxury, made to last.
